What Laws of UX collects, why, and who it's shared with.

This page describes what Laws of UX (lawsofux.com) actually collects when you visit — no more, no less. It’s short on purpose.

### Analytics

This site uses Mixpanel to understand how the site is used — page views, and a small number of device/preference signals (color scheme, reduced-motion, and similar prefers-* settings). A random 5% of sessions are recorded for usability research. Mixpanel data is stored in your browser’s localStorage, not in a tracking cookie.

### Local storage

Your light/dark mode preference is saved in your browser’s localStorage so it persists between visits. This value never leaves your browser and isn’t sent to us.

### Contact form

If you use the contact form, the name, email address, subject, and message you submit are sent to and stored by Netlify Forms, the form backend this site runs on, so the message can reach the site owner. That information is used only to respond to you — it isn’t sold, shared with advertisers, or added to a mailing list.

### Third parties

The two services above — Mixpanel (analytics) and Netlify (hosting and form handling) — are the only third parties this site sends data to. Outbound links (the store, source articles, social sharing) go to other companies’ sites, which have their own privacy policies.

### Your choices

Most browsers let you block third-party scripts or clear localStorage at any time, which stops analytics and resets your theme preference. To ask what data we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email jon@jonyablonski.com.

### Changes

If what this site collects changes, this page will be updated to match. Last reviewed: August 2026.
